About Us
Meet Tara
Originally from Cheshire, Tara trained as a professional dog groomer at Reaseheath College in 2004/05. She worked at a fire station where she met her husband, before moving down to Newquay in 2008.
Tara’s grooming journey began in a small shed in Cheshire. When she moved to Newquay, she started again from a tiny shed next to her house, building her reputation one happy dog at a time. As demand grew, she and her husband renovated their garage into the beautiful, purpose-built grooming salon you see today.

Meet Cecily
Cecily is from the Midlands and moved down to Newquay in 2010 at the age of 18. She qualified as a professional dog groomer in 2016 and has been working alongside Tara since 2020.
Passionate about animal welfare and gentle grooming techniques, Cecily brings calmness and care to every dog she works with. She is fully City & Guilds qualified, CPD Canine First Aid trained, and holds qualifications from Duchy College Rosewarne.

About Tara Scissor Hounds
Tara Scissor Hounds is a small, family-run dog grooming salon in Newquay, Cornwall. We pride ourselves on being Newquay’s professional dog groomers who offer calm, cage-free, one-on-one grooming in a relaxed environment.
Every dog is groomed individually from start to finish by either Tara or Cecily. We never have lots of dogs at once. This one-on-one approach keeps stress to an absolute minimum and allows us to give each pup the focused care and attention they deserve.
From our early days grooming in a tiny shed to our purpose-built salon, we have always believed in gentle, patient, and high-quality care. Whether it’s a full groom, ultrasonic teeth cleaning, or a simple tidy-up, your dog will leave feeling fresh, happy and loved.
